Available resources and FAQ regarding the transition to Workday.
Congratulations on the completion of another successful academic year!
To help prepare for the upcoming transition to Workday, the Human Resources department and ATP Readiness Team wanted to answer some frequently asked questions and remind you of the available Workday resources. These resources can be found at UWL’s ATP/Workday webpage.
What is Workday?
Workday is the system all 13 Universities of Wisconsin will use to standardize and streamline finance, human resources, and research administration processes. This includes accounting, managing time off, completing payroll, and closing out research awards. https://atp.wisconsin.edu/
When is “Go Live”?
July 7. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will be fully transitioned to Workday in July of 2025. There will also be a transition period, called “cutover,” during the month of June. During cutover, certain staffing and personnel actions will become unavailable. The comprehensive list of cutover dates: https://www.uwlax.edu/business-services/fiscal-year-end/.
What training is required?
Every employee is enrolled in courses relevant to their position and responsibilities. Employees can find assigned trainings in their Universities of Wisconsin instance of Canvas. Additionally, all employees have the option to self-enroll in additional training courses. We recommend that all employees complete “Workday Fundamentals: Workday for all employees.” It touches on actions every employee will complete. The course catalogue: https://www.wisconsin.edu/workday/workday-training/course-catalog/.
Can I access the Workday platform?
Yes! The Workday Training Sandbox (Demo) is available and can be used to enhance computer based trainings (CBTs), webinars, or instructor led Workday trainings. Employees with a start date before January 2025 will be able to log in. Select the Single Sign On option and use your UWL NetID.
The information in the training sandbox is based on UWL data from January of 2025, and is an approximate reflection of the actions you will be able to take in Workday. Your information is likely to look different once we have transitioned to Workday.
