Review the policy information regarding Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
HR will be providing a monthly review of important employment policies and procedures. The following information is a brief synopsis of University of Wisconsin La Crosse HR Employee Resources- Employee Assistance Program. The EAP program is a free, confidential service to you, your dependents, and anyone living in your household. It is recommended to review the policy in full found here: Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides you and members of your household with confidential resources. EAP services are administered by Acentra Health, and can address concerns such as:
- Emotional Situations: relationships, parenting, grieving
- Substance Abuse or Dependency Situations: counseling, cessation programs
- Work/Life Challenges: child care, elder care, adoption
- Legal and Financial Circumstances: managing expenses or debt, preparation of simple wills, child custody or child support
Access to EAP services is employer-paid. Professional counselors are available both on the telephone and on an in-person basis in our local area. You can receive up to 6 sessions, per issue, per year. If additional counseling or services are recommended, the counselor will assist you with accessing providers covered by your health insurance plan. You do not need to be enrolled in the State Group Health Insurance Program to use the EAP services.
*Student employees and Graduate Assistants are not eligible for EAP services through our EAP provider, Acentra Health, and instead have access to the UWL Counseling and Testing Center*
