UWL Toy Drive for Afghan Children at Fort McCoy

The UWL community has collaborated to host this toy drive to help the Afghan families and their children feel welcomed during their resettlement in the United States.

What: Toy Drive for Afghan children at Fort McCoy

When: September 20 – October 5, 2021

Items requested: (New items only, please.)

-Easy to understand and play board games (think Jenga, Checkers, Connect Four, etc)

-Large Floor Puzzles

-Puzzles with less than 50 pieces

-Play Doh and Kinetic Sand

Drop off locations:

  • Cleary Alumni & Friends Center – Main desk behind the fireplace
  • Graff Main Hall – Provosts Office, Room 227
  • Wittich Hall – Management Department
  • Student Union – Information desk, 1st floor

Who & Why: The UWL community has collaborated to host this toy drive to help the Afghan families and their children feel welcomed during their resettlement in the United States.

All toys will be donated to Team Rubicon, an international nonprofit disaster response organization, which is accepting donations for Afghan allies who arrived at Fort McCoy as part of Operation Allies Welcome.

The specific items listed above have been confirmed as toys of interest by the Fort McCoy Women and Children Center Coordinator who is working with Team Rubicon.

If more toys are donated than are needed at Fort McCoy, the extra toys will be donated to the Salvation Army Toys for Tots Drive.
