Posted 6:34 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013

Twenty-two students who attended LEGO University on campus in July are winners in a LEGO kit contest.

Twenty-two students who attended LEGO University, a four-day summer course at UW-La Crosse in July, have walked away with more than learning and fun — they’re winners in a LEGO kit contest. The campers will receive a BanBao Marine flagship LEGO kit that contains 3,016 pieces and retails for $300. All About Learning/LEGO University selected two random classes out of 175 camp locations to give each student and Aircraft Carrier kit. UW-L was a winning location. The July 22-25 class of fourth through eighth graders was the UW-L class selected. The happy campers will receive their LEGO kits during a special ceremony at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Ward Room in Cartwright Center. Campers who cannot attend will be mailed a kit. The summer course emphasized physics and engineering principals, and allowed children to experiment while having fun. All About Learning, the Michigan-based company that created LEGO University, hosted the contest. UW-L Continuing Education and Extension offers a variety of programs for youth throughout the year.
