UW System | Upcoming Flex Work Arrangement Annual Process

This communication was sent to Universities of Wisconsin employees with an approved FY26 Flex Work Arrangement (FWA) in Workday.

UW System Administrative Policy 1228 (SYS 1228) and UW-Madison Policy 5087 (UW-5087) require all flexible work arrangements for remote work to be reviewed and updated at the start of each fiscal year.

Because of this, all fiscal year 2026 (FY26) remote work arrangements — covering July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 — will expire on June 30, 2026, even if they were previously approved beyond that date.

During the week of June 1, 2026, Workday will update all FY26 flexible work arrangements to expire on June 30,2026. You will receive a Workday notification once your current agreement has been updated with this expiration date.

After receiving the Workday notification, you can submit a request for a fiscal year 2027 (FY27) flexible work arrangement. Remember to follow any remote work authorization/pre-approval processes required by your university and business unit before initiating a request in Workday.

FY27 remote work arrangements (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) must be submitted by September 30, 2026, or within 30 days of receiving approval for remote work.
