Helping students flourish
Wellness & Health Advocacy, part of Student Life at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse, is your one-stop shop for evidence-based health education and promotion. Our goal is to provide students with knowledge, skills, and support that help nourish their ability to flourish. Whether it's safer substance use, engaging in STI prevention, or practicing self-care, Wellness & Health Advocacy aims to help UWL students learn and build healthy habits.

What is wellness?
Wellness & Health Advocacy recognizes the seven dimensions of wellness (financial, spiritual, emotional, environmental, social and cultural, career and academic, and physical) as interconnected, essential elements of overall well-being. We encourage students to explore each dimension and engage with resources both on- and off-campus.
Wellness is the quality or state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal. And health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease. So, in the pursuit of wellness we not only need treatment for clinical illness, but interventions that support balance in our lives.

Peer Health Advocates
The Peer Health Advocates (PHAs), our peer educators and content creators, are UWL students with a passion for well-being. You'll find the PHAs creating content on Instagram (@uwlpeerhealth) and Tik Tok (@bewellatuwl), educating fellow UWL students during health promotion programs, and advocating in their communities. Under the guidance of the Student Wellness Coordinator and the Lead Peer Health Advocate, the PHAs explore their health-related passions and gain professional skills while supporting their peers. Learn more about being a PHA and get to know the current team here.
