Physical therapy students, faculty shine at national conference
The UWL Physical Therapy Program had an unprecedented showing at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting in Atlanta last month, proudly representing UWL. Five faculty members — Tom Kernozek, Ward Dobbs, Shane Murphy, Steni Sackiriyas and Drew Rutherford — were in attendance, alongside six graduate students from the program: Grace Rudek, Kelle Hierl, Sidney Smith, Brandon Bernardo, Makenna Carpenter, Kayla Lass and Colton Brand.
Together, the group presented nine research papers, showcasing the strength and breadth of their ongoing work in biomechanics, rehabilitation and human performance. A special congratulations goes to Grace Rudek, who was awarded a highly competitive Biomechanics Interest Group Graduate Travel Award in recognition of her outstanding scholarly contributions submitted to the meeting.
