School psychology is a great fit if you want to ...

Improve school safety

Identify and intervene with students whose mental health might lead them to harm themselves or others.

Advocate for special education

Support families & teachers in practicing inclusive design to ensure disabled students are empowered to meet their full potential.

Help teachers

Consult and collaborate with teachers and other school staff to problem-solve, promote career satisfaction, and prevent burnout.

Make higher-level changes

Enact school-or district-level interventions to address systemic problems impacting student success.

Addressing the demand for school-based mental health professionals

The U.S. Department of Education’s School Based Mental Health Professionals Project and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction provided critical support for the program’s start-up costs.

Wisconsin was one of six states awarded funding from the Department of Education to increase the recruitment and retention of school psychologists, school counselors and school social workers.
