The Special Education Certificate (Cross-Categorical K–12) is a fully online, cohort-based program designed for licensed Wisconsin educators who want to deepen their impact and teach students with disabilities while expanding their career opportunities. Upon completion, graduates are endorsed for the Wisconsin DPI Cross-Categorical K–12 Special Education License (DPI 2801).
This program prepares you to work across multiple disability categories, serve as an effective advocate and resource for students with disabilities and their families, and help meet a critical workforce need in schools.

Learning outcomes for the Special Education Certificate program are fully aligned with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Initial Practice-Based Professional Standards for Special Educators and Wisconsin Teaching Standards.
