The Making of a Play

Presented by Greg Parmeter

This class will focus on how a play is crafted including plot, imagery, character, and pacing. We will study different play structures and how they can affect how a story is told and the audiences’ perceptions of the play. We will examine how a musical is structured different from a play, a drama from a comedy, and forms that subvert traditional structure such as absurdism. Plays discussed will include A Raisin in the Sun, The Glass Menagerie, Hamilton, and several other classic and modern works.
