The Great Protective Factor: Sleep Enhancement

Ryan A. McKelly, Ph.D.

Chancellor Joe Gow is invited to provide closing remarks and congratulations.

10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Class | 12:30 p.m. Healthful lunch: Celebrate your achievements

In a culture that tends to celebrate over-commitment and competing with one another, sleep is often the health behavior most likely to be compromised in attempts to balance the demands of school/work and home. Inadequate sleep has been linked to higher obesity, depression, irritability, memory problems, lower attention, immune functioning, plus overall wellbeing. Healthy sleep is not something to put off until later — it is one of the most important behaviors we can and should improve today. Rejuvenate your body through restful sleep!
