Notice of Open Hearing on Proposed PI34 Rule Changes


Wisconsin is considering changes to PI 34 that will have significant effects on teacher preparation programs, including but not limited to the changes in licensure ranges and testing requirements.  DPI has released a draft form of the new version of PI 34, which is available for review at the following site:

DPI is conducting five open hearings to obtain public feedback on these changes.  UWL has been selected to host the last one, which will be held on January 29, 4:00-6:00 pm in 3212 Centennial Hall.  

While we do not yet know the extent to which public comments might result in changes to the draft rule, we do know that DPI is seeking input on whether or not there is support (or not) for changes in testing requirements (BST, Praxis II) and the inclusion of an ECE (PK-grade 3) licensure range, among other things.  Thus you are encouraged to attend the open hearing, and provide any comments you have about the proposed changes, either in person at this hearing or through the website.
