Domínguez-Prats’ visit is part of the Office of the Provost and UWL College of Liberal Studies Visit

Professor Pilar Domínguez-Prats, a leading international scholar of Women’s, Labor, and Oral history, will present at UW-La Crosse.

The free public lecture will be on “The Exile of Spanish Republicans in Mexico, 1939-1975: Lessons from Women’s History and Oral History."

Domínguez-Prats’ visit is part of the Office of the Provost and UWL College of Liberal Studies Visiting Scholar of Color Program and occurs during October, Hispanic Heritage Month.

Domínguez-Prats is assistant professor of history at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in Spain. Her most significant area of research has been built around a series of oral history interviews in the 1980s and 2000s, respectively, with women of the Spanish Republican Exile in Mexico from the 1930s to the 1970s and with women labor unionists in Spain. Domínguez Prats also touches on the politics of memory and how contemporary society is coming to terms with the legacy of the Franco dictatorship in Spain, ca. 1939-1975.
