Banned Books Week with Murphy Library

Banned Books Read Out

Celebrate your freedom to read by attending Murphy Library’s Seventh Annual Banned Books Read Out during Banned Books Week. The event takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24 by Hoeschler Tower (rain location - Murphy Library Staircase). This event is meant to promote the value of free and open access to information and bring attention to the dangers of censoring books, ideas, and persons. The public is invited to drop by during the event to listen to the readings or read from a banned book (see below for more information).

Volunteers are needed to read short passages (no more than five minutes) at the event. You may bring a banned book of your choice or there will be many examples available to choose from at the event. Those interested in reading for the program should complete the Volunteer to Read Form or contact Marc Manke, Murphy Library, at mmanke@uwlax.edu.

This event is open to the public and free of charge.
