Positions:  Distinguished Professor of Public Health & Director, Australian Research Centre in Complementary and Integrative Medicine

Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (TCIM) – a vast range of practices including acupuncture, naturopathy, yoga, indigenous medicine and herbal remedies – remain extremely popular around the world. While health research has increasingly focused upon TCIM, the study of these practices and a range of related issues remains under-developed. In this presentation Professor Adams outlines the need for a critical approach and investigation of TCIM use in order to help maintain patient and community safety as well as offer patient-centered, culturally-relevant health care.
