CATL Winter Workshop Series

The CATL Winter (Virtual) Conference, Tuesday 1/19 through Friday 1/22, invites instructors to prepare for your Spring 2021 classes with a series of workshops, panels, and consultations. Check out the THURSDAY schedule below to see what topics will help you enhance student learning in spring 2021. 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Workshop: Time-Saving Feedback Techniques
This webinar will offer participants a range of time-saving strategies for providing meaningful feedback to students. Canvas feedback tools will also be discussed.
 

10:00 am - 11:00 am
Workshop: Testing in Canvas
This session will offer strategies for creating assignments, quizzes, and exams in Canvas. Learn about different question types, differences between new and classic
quizzes, and ways to implement Canvas quizzes and assignments in various ways to assess your students. 

11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Supported Work Time

Bring an assignment to work on and improve to test with the skills and ideas discovered in the 9-11:00am workshops. CATL staff will be available to assist. Peers are encouraged to support and help each other, as well.  

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Lunch and Learn: How will you build a break into your spring courses? 
Spring 2021 is a semester with no spring break in the university calendar. Faculty Senate has recommended that instructors consider ways to build breaks into their course structure. Bring your lunch and join us for a conversation about ways to do this -- sharing and listening to ideas, questions, and options.

Collaborate or Consult
Collaborate with a colleague on an assignment for peer review and/or stop in (virtually) for a CATL consultation to discuss this or any teaching topic. 

2:00 pm - 3:30pm
Roundtable Discussion: Designing Assignments for Academic Integrity
Many instructors have expressed a desire to design courses and assignments to uphold academic integrity. As we move forward preparing our spring courses, now is a good time to think about intelligent and effective ways to approach concerns of academic integrity. Join us for an honest conversation about ways to rethink your assignments to promote honesty and integrity You will be encouraged to share your questions, comments, solutions, and ideas
