Join us for a special Women's History Month event as we celebrate the remarkable contributions of Assistant Professor Irene Awino to academia, research, and the UWL community. In this engaging session, we'll have the opportunity to delve into Irene's personal journey, her scholarly pursuits, and her impactful career at UWL.

Assistant Professor Irene Awino, an esteemed member of the Communication Studies Department, brings a wealth of expertise in Media Studies, Global Media and Technology, Gender and Development, and Journalism in the Global South. Through her research publications and dedication to fostering inclusive spaces, Irene has made significant strides in advancing the discourse on gender, race, and media representation.

During the event, we'll have the privilege of getting to know Irene on a personal level, exploring the experiences and influences that have shaped her journey. From her academic background to her current research endeavors, we'll delve into the intricacies of her work and the insights she brings to her field.

Additionally, we'll take a closer look at Irene's career at UWL, celebrating her achievements and contributions to the university community. Through meaningful dialogue and reflection, we'll honor Irene's commitment to excellence in education, mentorship, and advocacy for social justice.
