5 Evidence-Based Strategies to Boost Learning in Your Class

Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Location: 3110 Union
Description: The science of learning has advanced significantly in recent years, revealing important insights into how students learn. This session will spotlight five evidence-based strategies you can incorporate into your teaching next semester: retrieval practice, spaced practice, interleaving, elaboration, and concrete examples. We can boost learning by getting students to use these strategies in class and during their study time. The first half of this session will be a concise overview with practical examples from different disciplines. After a short break, we will return for an optional working session. Participants who choose to stay for the working session should bring a syllabus or syllabus draft for a course they are teaching.
