There has been much to write home about during the first weeks of fall at UWL. From hellos to goodbyes to plenty of fun and excitement in between, here are some of our favorite photos from the start of the 2023-24 school year.

Students and families were all smiles as they moved into UWL's residence halls Aug. 30-Sept. 4.

During his opening remarks for the fall semester, Chancellor Joe Gow announced his intention to step down after the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year and transition into a faculty role at the university. Gow, who arrived on campus in 2007, is the second-longest-serving chancellor in school history.

The campus community gathered Sept. 15 to celebrate the dedication of the Dr. Sudha Sudhakaran Physics Laboratory in the Prairie Springs Science Center. The dedication was made possible through gifts from Ron and Jane Rada, who wanted to honor the longtime professor of physics.

UW System President Jay Rothman met with campus and community stakeholders Sept. 26 during the launch of the System's OpportUWnity Tour. The tour seeks to spark connections and collaboration among UW campuses and business and community partners.
