Brief biography

Ashley is in her fourth year as the dance faculty at UW-L. As the dance faculty, she advises the dance minor program. Ashley earned her MFA in Dance from the University of Arizona and her BFA from Radford University. At UW-L, Ashley is the director of choreography for the UWL dance concert, Art in Motion. She was also the choreographer for UW-L musicals including Cabaret, James and the Giant Peach, Cinderella, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. She is a member of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) and the Wisconsin Dance Council (WDC). Ashley is currently working on a teaching certification in the Ailey-Horton dance technique through The Ailey School.

Ashley's teaching philosophy is centered around breaking the stigma that dance must be competitive. The media often portrays dance as an exclusive, toxic, cut-throat environment. However, dance should be for everyone. Dance can be a joyful experience without minimizing hard work and dedication.
