Brief biography

I have worked at UWL for over six years.  My primary job is being the Director of Clinical Education in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.   I am also a Clinical Assistant Professor.  Prior to my work at UWL, I practiced physical therapy in several school districts for over twenty years, was the director of a private practice pediatric physical therapy clinic and also worked in the areas of home health and sub-acute care.

I currently teach/have taught EXPAND, Clinical Teaching, Physical Therapy for Children and the three 12-week clinical courses within our physical therapy program.

Career

Teaching history

I have taught at UWL for over six years as an assistant clinical professor.  I have been a guest lecturer at UW Madison in the area of Pediatrics.   I have also presented at several State and National Physical Therapy Conferences.

Amy Taebel, Physical Therapy, elected APTA Wisconsin Delegate. Amy was elected to represent Wisconsin in the House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) policymaking body that comprises voting delegates (chapters, sections/academies, and PTA Caucus), and nonvoting delegates (the Board of Directors, ACAPT, APTA Student Assembly, Ethics and Judicial Committee, and Bylaws and House Documents Committee), and consultants. The House meets annually, making decisions on issues that may have far-reaching implications for the association and for the profession of physical therapy.

Amy Taebel, Physical Therapy, presented "American Physical Therapy Association Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program - Level 1" at the Health Science Center on Nov. 10 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This continuing education certification course is intended for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who work primarily in the clinical setting and are interested in developing their teaching abilities. Amy attended an intense three day in-person training and assessment to become certified to facilitate this course, which helps to foster clinical partnerships in support of our physical therapy clinical education program.
