Dr. DeBoer completed her PhD in Educational Psychology in 1994 with a specialty in School Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Professional history

Dr. DeBoer completed research and clinical post-doctoral fellowships, respectively, at Washington University in St. Louis and at the Johns Hopkins Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, prior to joining the faculty at UWL in 1997. 

Dr. DeBoer served in various leadership roles, including President, for the Wisconsin School Psychologists Association from 1997 until 2016.  She currently serves on the Trauma Sensitive Schools Work Group for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and on Chileda's Human Rights Committee.  Dr. DeBoer is licensed as a school psychologist in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Dr. DeBoer presents to schools and at conferences on working with traumatized children in educational settings and on conducting trauma-informed functional behavior assessments. She currently consults with a local elementary school to help the staff move towards becoming more trauma-informed.
