Dawn Norris, Sociology & Criminal Justice, received the award for Fulbright Scholar from the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. In Spring 2023, she will conduct research on unemployment and will teach a crosscultural work course at Univerzita Karlova (Charles University) in Prague, Czech Republic.

Leah Renee Foltman and Dawn Norris, both Sociology, presented "A Tale of Two (Very Different) Cohorts: Involved Parenting During Adolescence and Adulthood Mastery" at the American Sociological Association Annual Meeting on Aug. 9 online. Dawn Norris, Sociology, presented "Career Uncertainty in the Time of COVID-19" at The Actors Fund on July 15 in New York City, NY. As an invited panelist for this virtual forum (150 participants), Norris discussed applications of her research on job loss, identity, and mental health to unemployed actors during COVID-19.

Dawn Norris, Sociology, authored the article "COVID-19: A Threat to Jobs and Identities" in Footnotes (special COVID-19 issue) published on June 18 by American Sociological Assocation. The article examines how COVID-related job loss may affect people's identities and provides possible short-term coping strategies to help bolster identity while unemployed.
