Brief biography
Dr. Elking is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management and brings experience from both industry and academia to his teaching at UWL. He emphasizes helping students apply operations and supply chain concepts to real organizational decisions. His research examines supply chain risk and resilience, sustainability, and buyer–supplier relationships. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, and traveling.

Career
Teaching history
Before joining UWL, Dr. Elking taught undergraduate and MBA courses in operations management, supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and business analytics at the University of Houston–Downtown.
Professional history
Dr. Elking worked in contracting and procurement for Shell Oil Company before entering academia. His experience included assignments at the Deer Park Refining Complex and supporting Shell’s Supply & Distribution organization in Houston, Texas.
Research and publishing
Dr. Elking’s research examines supply chain risk, sustainability, and buyer–supplier relationships. His work has appeared in journals including Production and Operations Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Business Logistics, and International Journal of Operations & Production Management.
