Brief biography
Dr. Melissa McGraw (she/her/hers) joined the Department of Educational Studies at UW - La Crosse in Fall 2022. Her expertise is in providing coaching to special education teachers to support multilingual learners with reading disabilities. Dr. McGraw earned her PhD in Special Education from the University of Washington in 2022. Prior to earning her PhD, she was a special educator and taught multilingual learners who were labeled as disabled in a diverse elementary school. Dr. McGraw is a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Exceptional Needs Specialist.
