Brief biography

My name is Scot Johnson, and I serve as a dispatcher with the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse Police Department. Originally from Milwaukee, I relocated to La Crosse three years ago and have come to appreciate the sense of community and purpose that this city represents.

I come from a large family of six siblings — all of us adopted — and that experience has shaped who I am in profound ways. My mother’s unwavering love taught me the value of honesty, empathy, resilience, and service to others. Her example of love inspires me daily to live intentionally and to reflect that same love in everything I do.

I love hard work, learning, and personal growth. I love building strong friendships, uplifting those around me, and I love the opportunity to help others. Whether in my professional roles or personal life, I strive to approach each day with love.

Career

Professional history

I’m an experienced operations and production professional with a background in professional sports. After 15 years consulting with organizations, it was time for a change. Drawing on my background in live event coordination, technical systems management, and communication logistics, I decided to enter the public safety realm.

Before dispatching, I spent several years as the General Manager of Operations for a national sports and entertainment production company, where I oversaw large-scale audiovisual installations, broadcast operations, and nationwide team management.

My ability to stay calm under pressure, pay close attention to detail, and lead effectively in high-stakes environments has prepared me well for the fast-paced and critical work of emergency communications and operations.
