Our Approach to Compliance

We prioritize our institutional responsibility to ensure a safe and secure campus environment. We coordinate the adherence to applicable laws and regulations. We center the dignity, well-being, and rights of all members of the UWL community through partnerships, education, and supportive services.

Programs Supporting Compliance

Office of Civil Rights & Compliance

Through the Office of Civil Rights & Compliance, UW-La Crosse is committed to creating and maintaining a community environment that is equitable, inclusive and free of discrimination, discriminatory harassment and retaliation. Discrimination is inconsistent with the efforts of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to foster an environment of respect, dignity, and worth for all members of the University community.

Title IX

The mission of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse through Title IX is to provide a teaching, learning and working environment in which faulty, staff and students can discover examine critically, preserve and transmit the knowledge, wisdom, and values that will improve quality of life for all. To fulfill this mission, UW-La Crosse is committed to creating and maintaining a community environment that is free from sexual violence and sexual harassment.

Youth Protections

UWL prioritizes the safety and well-being of minors participating in university-sponsored events. Youth Protection involves implementing state and UW System Administration policies, providing comprehensive education and training, and adopting best practices designed to prevent harm and create safe spaces for youth to thrive.

Disability Resource Center

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) ensures that UWL remains in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Amendments (ADAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, state disability regulations, as well as, Universities of Wisconsin policy. DRC compliance efforts focus on ensure that UWL is accessible for students with disabilities through an interactive accommodation process.

Bias Support and Education Team

The Bias Support and Education Team (BSET) assists the UWL campus community in order foster a community that is welcoming and inclusive to all. It takes an institutional approach to better understand incidents that occur on campus. The BSET was formed in 2005 to address and catalog bias incidents in order to better understand our campus climate.
