UWL committees offer many ways to contribute your skills and expertise to shape campus as a place where all students, faculty, and staff have the opportunity to thrive. This page lists the committees that support the work of the Division of Access, Belonging & Compliance!
- Bias Support & Education Team (BS&ET)
The BSET exists to address forms of bias through consistent campus climate assessment, proactive education, and comprehensive support to individuals impacted by bias. We envision an atmosphere of civility and respect that prevails in all forms of expression and interaction in order to develop a community of belonging. - Indigenous Actions Collective
The Indigenous Actions Collective is a working group focused on identifying campus-wide initiatives aimed at supporting and retaining Native students. The group also provides opportunities for the broader campus community to engage with and learn about Indigenous cultures and issues. Additionally, the Collective collaborates closely with local tribal members on various projects. Assesses disability needs, designs and promotes the implementation of accommodation procedures and policies and other disability related functions on campus, and promotes awareness of disability related concerns. - Joint Committee on Civil Discourse (JCCD)
Created by the Chancellor in 2019, The JCCD is charged with creating an event (or events) to help our campus celebrate national Free Speech Week each year during the third full week of October. - Joint Campus Climate and Belonging Committee (JCCBC)
To provide recommendations to the Chancellor and Cabinet on steps we can take to improve campus climate and a sense of belonging across all campus stakeholders.
Committees are run cooperatively with staff members from Student Affairs and Access, Belonging and Compliance.
Needs Marketing Strategy Development Committee
2025-2026 Members: Kara Ostlund, Kyle Burke, Macy Carty, Ashley Jochimsen, Zachary DeBroux, Caleb Colon-Rivera, Andrew Ericson, Amanda Krafft, Tracy Bateman, Kathryn Behrendt, Vitaliano Figueroa, Stacy Narcotta-Welp
Charge: Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy to increase student awareness of essential basic needs services offered at UWL (Food Pantry, Campus Thread, Emergency Fund, and Campus Meals).
- Commitment: Meet twice a month, then transition to a monthly meeting schedule to monitor and adjust the initiative as needed.
- Typical duties: Develop a baseline for the various programs and services offered and develop a comprehensive marketing strategy.
Staff Wellbeing Initiative Committee
2025-2026 Members: Nick Berg, Crystal Champion, Yer Xiong, Vickie Sanchez, Robin Beahm, Vitaliano Figueroa, Stacy Narcotta-Welp
Charge: Develop a robust staff wellbeing initiative designed to enhance staff wellbeing, appreciate their commitment, and strengthen their sense of belonging at UWL.
- Commitment: Meet twice a month, then transition to a monthly meeting schedule to monitor and adjust the initiative as needed.
- Typical duties: Develop new programs or resources focusing on well-being, work-life balance, and recognition,
Professional Development Committee
2025-2026 Members: Haley Harnden, Meg Mullin, Paul La Count, Vitaliano Figueroa, Stacy Narcotta-Welp
Charge: Coordinate professional development opportunities for the Divisions of Student Affairs and Access, Belonging and Compliance
- Commitment: Meet once/month; attend and potentially facilitate development events
- Typical duties: Create a list of professional development opportunities; set dates, market and recruit colleagues to events; coordinate implementation of event; conduct and assess post-event evaluations
25th Annual Barbara Stewart Scholarship Golf Outing & Fundraising Committee
2025-2026 Members: Lizzy Haywood, Jeff Keenan, Alex Jackson, Tammy Klein, Jesimiel Banjiram, Darlene Geiger, Vitaliano Figueroa, Stacy Narcotta-Welp
Charge: Coordinate all aspects of the annual golf outing for the Barbara Stewart Scholarship; future expansion to include additional fundraising
- Commitment: Meet once/month until mid-spring semester; then meet weekly until day of event (typically first Monday of June)
- Typical duties: Establish event date and coordinate with golf course (meal & golf), recruit and register participants, solicit sponsorships and donation items for raffles, and coordinate logistics on the day of the event
- Future: Expand beyond golf outing to include other fundraising opportunities (crowdfunding, employee giving campaign, Day of Giving, etc.)
Recognition Committee
2025-2026 Members: Ashley Nowak, Neil Ostlund, Alex Jackson, Jenna Umberger, Kerrigan Trautsch, Stephanie Silas, Vitaliano Figueroa, Stacy Narcotta-Welp
Charge: Coordinate annual recognition program and end of the year celebration
- Commitment: Meet once/month until mid-spring semester; then weekly until end of the year celebration (typically mid-May)
- Typical duties: Coordinate all aspects of the recognition program including promotion of awards, soliciting and reviewing nominations, selecting and presenting winners at the end of year celebration
