Guide to Using LENS for Teaching Improvement

This guide is designed to assist instructors as they interpret feedback from the Learning Environment Survey (LENS) and reflect on their teaching to identify potential areas for improvement. By engaging in this reflective process, instructors can make informed decisions, ultimately enhancing student learning and success.

Below are core dimensions of the learning environment. For each, you will find background on its importance, a quick guide to interpreting student responses, and a collection of strategies you may use in your classes. We recommend building on what you are already doing and incorporating strategies selectively.
