Wisconsin Trout Stream Restoration Workshop

August 12, 2026 | Live online event
8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Central Time

This annual Wisconsin Trout Stream Restoration Workshop was established by Dr. Ray White in 2013. It brings together scientists, resource managers, practitioners, and students to explore the science, management, and restoration of trout streams and their connected landscapes. Through expert presentations, case studies, and facilitated discussion, the workshop examines how physical, biological, and social processes interact across streams, riparian corridors, wetlands, and watersheds. The emphasis for this professional development opportunity is on understanding natural processes, evaluating restoration and management approaches, and applying science-informed perspectives to real-world decision-making in diverse ecological and regional contexts.

By participating in this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Integrate scientific understanding of stream, riparian, and watershed processes to interpret how natural dynamics and human influences shape trout habitat and aquatic ecosystems.
  • Evaluate restoration and management approaches using ecological principles, research findings, and applied examples to support effective practices that result in resilient outcomes.
  • Apply systems-based and interdisciplinary perspectives to professional decision-making, collaboration, and problem-solving related to trout stream conservation and restoration.
