Important updates regarding the approver role in reviewing Outside Activity Reports.

Today marks the beginning of the annual submission of the Outside Activity Reporting for Faculty, Academic Staff, and Limited appointees whose appointments are 50% or higher. 

Thank you to those that have already logged in and completed the process. 

I wanted to provide a few updates provided to us this morning by the UW Service Operations OAR rollout team as there have been some unanticipated changes:

  • Please note, the original set of instructions linked in the communication indicated there was a “Step 11”. There is no step 11, and the document is being updated by UW Service Operations this morning. 
  • Originally, the deployment system-wide was to require only those submissions that were reporting Outside Activities to be approved by the employee’s supervisor. Unfortunately, this was not correctly activated, so all supervisors are receiving notification that an employee had completed the report.  To acknowledge this report, please follow these instructions.
  • Knowing this, HR is quickly working to develop reports so you can track your employee’s progress. I will notify you again once those are completed.

I apologize that the rollout experience was not as everyone had anticipated.
