Scholarship Types

NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

This scholarship is for current high school juniors/seniors planning on attending a four-year university. You could receive a full 4 year scholarship or a 3-year Advanced Designee scholarship to the college of your choice. If you don't receive the national scholarship, you can still sign up for MS 101 class your freshman year and compete for a campus based scholarship. For more information, visit https://www.goarmy.com/rotc/high-school-students/four-year-scholarship.html or contact the Scholarship and Enrollment Officer.

CAMPUS-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Already a student? We currently award two to three year scholarships to students actively enrolled in the university. Start off by signing up for one of our basic classes like MS 101, then come speak to our enrollment officer to get the ball rolling on applying for a scholarship. We also have specific scholarships reserved for nursing students.

SIMULTANEOUS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM

The Simultaneous Membership Program allows for currently serving Army Reservists and members of the Army National Guard to participate in ROTC and commission upon graduation. These cadets continue to serve in their reserve component where they will be placed in a provisional leadership position and gain first-hand experience from being in front of Soldiers. In addition to accruing time in service and receiving pay at the E-5 rate for drill weekends, they can compete to serve on active duty following graduation and commissioning.

GUARANTEED RESERVE FORCE DUTY SCHOLARSHIP (GRFD)

Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) scholarships are available through the US Army Reserve Components for students that desire to participate in the Senior ROTC program. These scholarships guarantee that the student will serve in the US Army Reserves (USAR) or the Army National Guard (ARNG) after graduating from college and commissioning into the Army. These scholarships can be used to directly cover tuition and fees or be taken as $5,000 per semester for  room and board. The student may also be eligible to use other benefits they have earned through their service within their reserve component.

CRITICAL LANGUAGES AND CLIP-B

The purpose of the Culture and Language Incentive Program  (CLIP-B) program is to promote the study of languages and cultural studies that are of importance to the Army. Courses are designed to teach the student how to speak, read, write, or interpret that foreign language. Successful completion of the course to be eligible for CLIP-B payment requires the student to achieve at least a B or better and must be contracted. UWL offers Russian, Chinese, Arabic (DL), and Japanese (DL). For more info, clink the following link: https://www.uwlax.edu/global-cultures-and-languages/languages/critical-languages/
