UW-La Crosse alumna Stacy Trisler spent more than 20 years building expertise in marketing and sales. Now, she is sharing her wealth of experience with the next generation of business professionals at her alma mater.
Since joining UWL's Marketing Department in 2015, Trisler has become a favorite among students, known for her engaging classroom instruction and her leadership of UWL’s nationally recognized Eagle Sales Team.
We caught up with her to learn more about her time at UWL, her favorite classes to teach and the students who continue to inspire her.
Favorite class in college: It was so long ago! Probably Dance Appreciation because we got to dance!
Favorite class to teach: Professional Selling and co-teaching in the Kwik Trip Integrated Core Program. Professional Selling becuase I love seeing students' gradual realization that sales isn't a dirty word. It’s based on trusted relationships between buyers and sellers. Their final exam is a live role-play with a professional salesperson playing the buyer role for them — a mini version of what my sales team does at national competitions. I absolutely love to see students walk out of the interview room with a look of pride — and relief — that they stepped outside of their comfort zone and did this!
The Kwik Trip Integrated Core Program because watching these students' growth over the course of a semester is incredible. We have high expectations in these courses, and the students get there by the end of the semester. Kwik Trip is always so impressed with our students' research and ideas. It's an incredible program.
Favorite spot at UWL: On campus, there are many, but I’d have to say I love our “newish” home in Wittich Hall. I love that students are always around studying and interacting with faculty.
Favorite pastime: I started to learn watercolor painting a few years back, and I love painting — just for myself and tje joy of putting paint on paper. I’m also an avid reader. I have read a lot of fantasy fiction lately, but historical fiction as well.
Favorite vacation spot: I have wonderful memories of summer vacations in Spooner, Wisconsin, with my entire family. Nothing fancy: We rented a basic cabin and fished and swam for a week, but I just loved it!
Final thoughts: We have incredible students here at UWL. I am always amazed at the wonderful things they do, both here and when they leave.
