Wellness & Health Advocacy is hiring Peer Health Advocates for Fall 2026
As a Peer Health Advocate (PHA), students can explore their health-related passions, learn professional skills, and develop relationships with like-minded students. Being a PHA cultivates friendship, lifelong learning, and professional preparedness. As part of our team, you can expect assisting with the development, facilitation, and evaluation of health promotion events; the creation of social media, marketing, and educational content; and wellness-related advocacy.
As a paid, on-campus position with Wellness & Health Advocacy and the Student Life Office, Peer Health Advocates are expected to uphold the mission and values of Wellness & Health Advocacy's approach to health education, support campus initiatives and make effective referrals to campus services, and contribute to the cultivation of an environment in which health flourishes for all. PHAs work an average of 5 hours per week and can have any academic major.
Here's what past and present PHAs have to say about their experience:
- “I like meeting new students and connecting with them about health topics the PHAs and I are passionate about. It makes me feel like our programs are making a difference for student health on campus.”
- “I greatly value the connections I've made at UWL. I'm so happy that I applied for this role because I’ve received so much joy from this experience.”
- “Being a PHA brought me some of my best friends and was one of my favorite parts of college. I love seeing all the new programming and posts from new PHAs!”
- “I feel a ton of personal growth and so much more connected with my own well-being, as well as more comfortable in helping my peers.”
The Fall 2026 applicationcan be found on Handshake and is due on April 3, 2026.
