The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse offers eligible first-year students the opportunity to participate in the Four-Year Graduation Agreement. This agreement is designed to help students complete their bachelor's degree within four years of their initial enrollment through intentional academic planning and advising.

Students who meet all of the agreement's requirements and whose graduation is delayed because the university is unable to fulfill its obligations under the agreement will have tuition covered for the remaining required course(s) needed to complete their degree.

How it works

The four-year timeline begins with a student's first semester as a new freshman and concludes 48 months later.

Students who participate in the agreement will: 

  • Meet with a designated four-year agreement advisor
  • Develop a four-year academic plan with the advisor that follows the required course sequence for their major
  • Sign the agreement within the first seven weeks of their initial enrollment at UWL

Is the agreement right for you?

This agreement will not be of interest to all entering freshmen; it is important to understand the options and conditions of the agreement before participation.

The Four-Year Graduation Agreement can help students:

  • Reduce the overall cost of earning a degree
  • Enter graduate or professional school sooner
  • Begin their careers earlier

You may decide not to participate if you:

  • Are still exploring majors or career interests
  • Plan to pursue a highly competitive or selective major
  • Balance school with work or family responsibilities
  • Intend to study abroad
  • Plan to complete an internship
  • Participate in athletics or other co-curricular activities
  • Plan to complete multiple majors

Eligibility

The Four-Year Graduation Agreement is available to eligible entering first-year students in specific undergraduate majors. The agreement must be signed within the first seven weeks of a student's initial enrollment during a meeting with a four-year agreement advisor
