2026 Jennifer '93 and Mike Hansen CBA Excellence in Research Recipient - Dr. Andreas Eklund

Andreas Eklund is originally from Sweden but has found home in Wisconsin, a vibrant and seasonally dramatic state whose crisp winters, springs, summers, and colorful falls he has grown to love. Andreas is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at UW-L, where he teaches consumer behavior, branding, and sustainability in marketing. His teaching philosophy focuses on bridging theory and practice, helping students apply marketing knowledge to make thoughtful decisions that benefit businesses and society.

Andreas earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from Linnaeus University in Sweden, where he focused on consumer psychology. His research explored how sensory stimuli in Volvo Cars interiors, such as colors, textures, and materials, influence consumer judgment and perception. His latest publication on Nike’s “Why Do It?” campaign explores how brands respond to shifting societal expectations around mental health, anxiety, and fear of failure.

Before entering academia, Andreas worked as a chef, which sparked his fascination with how we experience the world through our senses and how multisensory information influences decision-making. Outside of work, Andreas enjoys disc golf, ice skating, soccer, rock music, salty licorice, and spending time with his rescued cats, Maya and Ludde, who run the house.
