Permit Sale Instructions

2026-27 Student Parking Permit Sale Information  

Permit Sale Dates  

  • Monday, July 6 at 9am: Returning or Transfer UWL students with more than 60 credits, includes graduate students    
  • Monday, July 13 at 9am: Returning or Transfer UWL students with less than 60 credits    
  • Monday, July 20 at 9am: All new UWL students with an admit term of summer or fall   

Permits will not be available for purchase on the weekends of July 11-12 and July 18-19  (4:00 pm Friday – 9:00 am Monday).  

Parking Portal  (Access may not be available until after July 1st) 

Permits are sold online through the Parking Portal using your UWL login credentials.  DO NOT CREATE A GUEST ACCOUNT. If you created a guest account or have a previous guest account, contact Parking Services so the guest account can be deleted.   

We strongly encourage students to test their access to the Parking Portal prior to the start of the permit sale on July 6th.  If you experience any issues, please contact us at 608-785-8061. 

Important Information Before You Enter the Parking Portal  

  1. By purchasing a permit, you enter into a contract with UWL and agree to abide byUWL parking policies.   
  2. Students living in the residence halls may purchase a resident (R lot) permit, and students living off campus may purchase a commuter (C lot) permit.  Commuter permits are not valid for overnight parking on campus.    
  3. Review the campus map to determine which lots you want to prioritize. Note the locations of resident and commuter lots. Lots are sold first come, first served. If a parking lot is not listed, it is sold out.   
  4. Vehicle information can be added prior to the sale by clicking the “Vehicle” link at the top of the Parking Portal. The vehicle must be registered to the student or an immediate family member.   

Permit Purchase Instructions  (VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS)  

  1. Login in to the UWL Parking Portal with your UWL Net ID 
  2. Select “Get Permit”   
  3. Read instructions, select student type (commuter or resident), and Click Next   
  4. Select permit, read policies, and Check “I have read and accept the above permit agreement”, and Click Next   
  5. Select or add vehicle(s), and Click Next  
  6. Choose lot (if a lot is not listed it isSOLD OUT), and Click Next  
  7. Confirm purchase   
  8. Check out  
  9. If you have successfully completed these steps, you will see a payment receipt screen and will also receive a “Receipt for your transaction” email from parking@uwlax.edu.

Job description

Do you want to drive the Shuttle? Do you have great customer service skills? Do you like technology? If so, we want you to work with us in Parking Services! 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Patrol campus parking lots using a university vehicle 
  • Enforce parking regulations and issue citations 
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering parking-related questions  

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (training provided)
  • Ability to work independently outdoors in varying conditions
  • Interest in law enforcement, public service, or transportation is a plus, but not required
  • Valid permanent driver’s license (no temporary/probationary licenses)
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check 

Work Schedule 

  • Typical schedule is: 
    • Two weekday shifts per week (2 hours each shift)
    • Rotating weekends, approximately every fourth weekend (Five 2-hour shifts)
  • Weekday shifts: 
    • 2-hour shifts between 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Monday–Thursday) 
    • 2-hour shifts between 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Monday-Friday)
  • Weekend shifts:  
    • 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Friday–Sunday; hours may vary based on operational needs) 

Additional Information 
This is not a desk job. Employees will spend the majority of their time outdoors operating a university vehicle equipped with parking enforcement technology.

The streets (16th, 17th, and Farwell) around UWL's North Ramp require a UWL permit or Passport Parking payment. 

The City of La Crosse charges for hourly parking around the campus perimeter. Be sure to check the signs on the streets or contact our office for assistance.

Summer Tulips

2026-27 Parking Permit Sale

Student parking permits will go on sale in July, based on the schedule below. Instructions and important information will be emailed at the end of June.
