Complete your undergraduate and master's degrees in just 5 years!

Completing one of the minor to master's pathways into the Recreation Management MS program is a great opportunity for highly motivated students.

These pathways enable students to more efficiently complete a minor in either Outdoor and Recreation Management or Tourism and Event Management, plus a Master of Science (MS) in Recreation Management. Up to nine credits worth of coursework count toward both the minor and the master's.

Our minor-to-master's students spend less time in school and pay less tuition, because they are completing in five years what would typically take six years if the undergraduate and graduate degrees were completed separately.

  • Students can decide to follow the Outdoor and Recreation Management and Tourism and Event Management minor-to-master's pathway at any time. Note that there is a distinct pathway for Outdoor and Recreation management minors who are Recreational Therapy majors.
  • Undergraduate students who are pursuing the minor-to-master's pathway will take up to nine credits of REC electives at the 500-level after they have completed 75 undergraduate credits. Graduate credit will count toward both the undergraduate minor and Recreation Management MS requirements.
  • To be eligible to enroll in the 500-level courses, a student must apply as a Special Non-Degree Graduate Student. They must also have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.85/4.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Admission to the Recreation Management graduate program is contingent upon completion of all undergraduate major program requirements.
  • Contact Graduate Program Director Kate Evans if you are ready to learn more!

Individual student schedules will vary, depending on internship timing, etc. Please work closely with Graduate Program Director Dr. Kate Evans to develop your personalized plan.
