Christine Acenscio is a College of Business Administration Rising Star
Dr. Christine Ascencio is an Assistant Professor of Management whose teaching emphasizes international business, social responsibility, and sustainable management. Since joining UWL in 2020, she has taught courses including International Management, the Global Responsibility of Business, a study abroad consulting program in Slovakia, and a business and human rights elective. Her classes incorporate high-impact practices such as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), client-based projects, and case studies that connect students to global challenges.
Dr. Ascencio’s research explores how businesses impact society through international operations, social entrepreneurship, and corporate responsibility. Her recent studies examine SDG communication, internationalization of social enterprises, and corporate human rights violations.
Her service to the university reflects a strong commitment to student learning and global engagement. She currently chairs the Management Department and CBA Curriculum Committees and serves on Faculty Senate. She has also served on the International Business Advisory Committee, International Education Committee, and the Sustainable Business Task Force.
Before academia, Dr. Ascencio worked in the nonprofit sector supporting multilingual access initiatives. She holds a Ph.D. in International Business & Marketing and MBA from Saint Louis University and integrates her interdisciplinary background into both her teaching and scholarship.
