Content acknowledgement

A page within Content acknowledgement

Murphy Library Digital Collections provides access to many thousands of descriptions and digital reproductions of visual materials as well as audio and video content owned by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and housed in Murphy Library.

It is possible that these online collections contain content that may be harmful or difficult to view for some users. Murphy Library Digital Collections takes seriously its charge to preserve and make available the historical record as it relates to the University, the community, and the broader information society. It is also an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is aware that the historical nature of some materials presented here may reflect outdated, biased, offensive, and possibly violent views, opinions, and depictions. In addition, some of the materials may relate to violent or graphic events but are preserved for their historical significance.

Murphy Library Digital Collections is committed to working with staff, communities, and peer institutions to assess and update descriptions that are harmful and to establish standards and policies to prevent future harmful language in staff-generated descriptions.
