Orientation (NSO)
Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse!
Kicking off the fall semester, New Student Orientation (NSO) and Welcome Week are designed to help new students make a smooth and successful transition to life at UWL.
New Student Orientation is for all incoming UWL students—first-year and transfer, whether living on or off campus. It features a wide range of programs, services, activities, and fun events to welcome you to campus and introduce you to the many ways you can get involved.
Throughout NSO, you’ll be guided by our Eagle Guides—knowledgeable student leaders ready to support you as you navigate your first days at UWL. You’ll have countless opportunities to meet other new and returning students, explore campus resources, and get prepared for the academic year ahead.
Participation is strongly encouraged—it’s the best way to start your UWL journey connected, confident, and informed.

When you arrive, you'll find posters in your residence halls listing all NSO events. While all activities are encouraged, bolded events are hall-based and strongly recommended for first-year students. Don’t miss out—they’re a key part of kicking off your UWL experience!
