Vanguard [van-gärd]: noun. A UWL student that represents the UWL student body during campus tours, Campus Close-Up programs, college fairs, high school visits, and freshman registration and assists the Admissions Office in recruiting high quality students to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Established in 1976, the Vanguard Organization has assisted the Office of Admissions in recruiting high quality students to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse by utilizing a personalized approach to admissions from a student's perspective. The Admissions Office advises the Vanguard Organization and determines the selection process, eligibility requirements, and membership requirements.
