Memberships
Current students do not need to purchase a membership to use the REC or the New Fieldhouse. This service is included in your student fees, if enrolled in classes and paying the student fee for the Rec for the current semester.
The recreation membership is your ticket to achieve or maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Take advantage of UWL's exceptional recreational facilities by purchasing a membership for the semester, academic year, calendar year, or now on a monthly basis. Membership includes:
- access to the Fitness Center, track-side cardiovascular and strength equipment, 200 meter track, courts, climbing wall, racquetball courts, multipurpose room, conditioning room, and multi-activity court
- access to EZONE Esports & Gaming
- access to the Mitchell Hall pool
- reduced rental and trip rates at the Outdoor Connection
- ability to sponsor guests (up to 3 per visit) for appropriate guest fee
- eligibility to play intramural sports

REC Membership Information
Students who are enrolled in the current semester do not need to purchase a membership to use the REC or New Fieldhouse if enrolled for current term and paying the student fee for the REC.
Student memberships to the REC are included in your student fees and are based on term(s) of enrollment. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 1 (one) credit to gain access (exception: summer and winter session).
Students who are not enrolled in the fall or spring semester are ineligible to purchase a semester membership. Daily guest passes can be purchased for $8 and require a current UWL student sponsor.
Students not enrolled in summer or winter session are eligible to purchase a short-term membership if enrolled in the semester just prior to or immediately following that term. Daily guest passes can be purchased for $4.
Former students who do not meet these eligibility requirements must pay an $8 guest fee and be accompanied throughout the visit by a current UWL student sponsor.
The Rec Sports Department extends membership privileges for a fee to the spouse/partner of current students, faculty, staff, retiree and emeriti, UWL affiliate must possess an active recreation membership before a spouse/partner is permitted to purchase a membership.
Verification of eligibility:
- UWL faculty, staff, retiree and emeriti: official University identification card
- Spouse/domestic partner: marriage certificate or domestic partner affidavit presented at time of purchase

Yes, students attending college at a different institution can use the REC according to the following requirements:
- Fall or spring semester: purchase $5 daily guest pass and be sponsored by current UWL student throughout visit; institutional ID required
- Summer or winter session: purchase membership plus $5 card fee; institutional ID and proof of enrollment in the semester just prior to or immediately following the term required

Students who are enrolled in summer school or winter session pay a segregated fee. Therefore, in fairness to all, it was determined that students not enrolled in these sessions should pay a comparable amount to use the REC (approved by the UWL Student Association, Spring 2014).

The fee is based on the operational costs of the REC.
Yes, the Outdoor Connection has special rental and trip rates for currently enrolled students and REC members. Non-members will pay higher rates.
Yes for $4 if you were enrolled for the semester just prior to or immediately following summer/winter session. Current UWL ID is required.

Purchasing a Membership
Current UWL faculty and staff may purchase a membership online with a credit card payment (payroll deduction not available online).
Payroll deduction, retirees, emeriti and spouse/partner memberships (spouse/partner eligibility verification required) must be purchased in person at the REC Information Counter. Payment options at the REC include check, credit and debit.

Benefits
Membership allows same benefits and privileges as students/other members
- Can use all spaces during all open hours
- Can sponsor guests (same rules apply of up to 3 guests)
- Can purchase group fitness membership & rent lockers
- Will receive reduced rates for Outdoor Connection rentals (student/member rate)
- Have access to Mitchell Hall pool during lap swim hours (must bring card to pool)
- Have access to the New Fieldhouse during scheduled open rec hours
Alumni must provide verification of alumni status by completing this form. Prospective members will receive a confirmation email that must be presented to the Rec Sports staff when purchasing a membership. Requests for verification will be processed Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm by the Alumni Association.
Alumni memberships must be purchased in person at the REC Information Counter. Payment options at the REC include check, credit and debit.
Parking
Must follow University parking policies and procedures.
Guest Pass
Alums are able to purchase a daily guest pass to use the REC according to the following requirements:
- Provide verification of alumni status (email confirmation from Alumni Association)
- Pay daily guest fee of $6 and sign waiver
Alumni members who meet the above requirements are able to sponsor up to 3 guests. Guests must pay the appropriate daily fee based on status. Minimum age for using the REC is 16 (exception: climbing wall has no minimum age requirement).
Group Fitness classes require an additional membership. Memberships are sold as an add-on to a REC Membership, therefore, services are limited to students and members of the REC.

Attending Classes
Cycle classes are held in the REC Conditioning Room (150) off the lobby. All other classes, unless otherwise noted, are held in the REC Aerobics Room (101) past the entrance turnstiles.
With the exception of Cycle classes, access to each class is first-come-first-served. Cycle classes require pre-registration.
Finals cycle classes require pre-registration. No membership required
