FIRST AID/CPR/AED CERTIFICATION

CERTIFICATIONS

The first aid/CPR/AED courses teach participants to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. The adult & pediatric course certifies participants to help victims of any age - adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). The adult course certifies participants to help victims 12 years of age and older. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a 2 year Red Cross certification.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION*

UWL students register by clicking on the registration link above. For others who are not UWL students, please send an email to recoffice@uwlax.edu. A minimum of 4 participants is required by the registration deadline to host all classes.

If the registration deadline has passed for the online & classroom courses, email recoffice@uwlax.edu to see if there is space. See below for the online prerequisite.

COURSE FORMAT

Classroom 

In-person courses are instructor-led classroom sessions that include lecture, videos, activities, discussions, and hands-on skill practice. This format is recommended for those who have never been certified before. Classes are held in the REC Conditioning Room; maximum class capacity is 12 participants.

Online & Classroom (Blended Learning)

Blended learning courses include an online portion and an instructor-led classroom hands-on skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection. Materials for the online portion will be sent via email from recoffice@uwlax.edu within 1-3 business days. Allow approximately 2-2.5 hours to complete the online portion. This format is recommended for those who have been certified in the past. Classes are held in the REC Conditioning Room; maximum class capacity is 10 participants.
