Casey Tobin

Casey Tobin, Psychology, authored the article "Hot Flashes & Cool Insights: A Lesson Plan on Menopause" in the "American Journal of Sexuality Education," published on July 21 by Taylor & Francis. This lesson plan addresses gaps in menopause education and presents an inclusive, interdisciplinary approach for health, sexuality, and community educators. It explores the historical, physiological, psychological and cultural aspects of menopause while emphasizing sexual health and cultural sensitivity. This lesson provides educators and healthcare providers with opportunities to reflect on stigma, expand their understanding, and acquire practical tools for offering meaningful support during menopause. Through interactive activities, case studies, and multimedia resources, the lesson helps participants to understand how menopause affects identity, relationships, and ­overall well-being.

Weixu Lu and Tanvi Thakkar

Weixu Lu, Communication Studies, and Tanvi Thakkar, Psychology, presented "“Ceci n’est pas un Professeur”: Captions and Slides in Online Videos for Cochlear Implants Users" at 75th International Communication Association Annual Conference on June 14 in Denver, CO. This innovative research on improving accessibility for individuals with cochlear implants in online video-based communication and learning. Using eye-tracking technology, Dr. Lu and Dr. Thakkar explored how individuals with cochlear implants navigate captions and visual aids in online lecture videos. Their work sheds light on how digital learning materials could be better designed to support all learners.
