Accountancy kudos

Elizabeth Brown

Elizabeth Brown, Accountancy, presented "Federal Involvement in Setting International Capital Solvency Standards" at Western Academy of Legal Studies in Business on April 4, 2019 in Monterey, California. The 2017-18 Congress enacted the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, which attempted to address the need for enhanced international solvency standards. Her paper examines the role that federal agencies play in negotiating international insurance regulatory standards and the problems posed by the US reliance on state-based insurance regulation. International insurance regulatory standards have real implications for financial conglomerates, which potentially pose systemic risks. On March 20, the Western Academy of Legal Studies in Business (WASLB) awarded her presentation its Outstanding Paper Award.
