Available programs

Early College Credit Program (ECCP)

High school students attending high schools in Wisconsin may be eligible to earn college credit through the Early College Credit Program (ECCP). Students must notify their high school guidance office or school district of their intent to take courses at UWL. Participants may enroll in UWL courses and earn high school credit, post-secondary credit, or both.

Deadlines

Submit The Early College Credit Program and High School Special Agreement Form must be submitted to the high school by the deadline for each term:

  • Summer - February 1
  • Fall - March 1
  • Spring - October 1

Tuition & Fees

The cost for ECCP students is one-third of regular tuition and fees. School districts make determinations regarding course approval, awarding of high school credit, and tuition/fee payment responsibility.

Considerations:

  • If responsibility for payment lies with:
    • Student/family - Standard UWL billing policies and procedures apply
    • School district - UWL will bill the school district according to the standard billing schedule
  • Failure to comply with the payment schedule will result in accrual of finance charges
  • If a student drops/withdraws from a course (before the drop/withdrawl date), payment of tuition and fees accrued to date will be required based on the university's refund policy.

Textbooks

Textbook rental is included in undergraduate tuition and fees. This program supports most undergraduate textbook needs, but some courses may require the purchase of additional materials through the University Bookstore.

Textbooks must be returned after final exams or upon withdrawal from a course. Failure to return a textbook by the deadline will result in a fine that accrues until the item is returned. Students will be charged the university-determined replacement cost for a lost textbook.

Before you apply

Completing college coursework while in high school offers many benefits, but it also requires significant commitment. Please consider the following:

Academics
College coursework is academically rigorous and requires students to meet university-level standards. Grades earned become part of the student's permanent college transcript, and transferability of credits varies by institution.

Attendance & Transportation
Attending on-campus classes and activities requires reliable transportation. Final exams may be scheduled outside of regular class periods and require additional time on campus.

Policies
All students taking courses at UWL are bound by university academic policies. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA) rules apply to all UWL students. University representatives communicate directly with students (not parents).
