Your UWL education is an investment in your future, and scholarships can help make that investment more affordable. We encourage you to explore the scholarship opportunities available.

Merit-Based Scholarships

In recognition of outstanding academic achievement, UWL awards more than 400 merit-based scholarships to incoming students each year through a competitive scholarship award process. Admitted students are automatically considered for these merit-based scholarships; no separate scholarship application is required.

The scholarship award process is based on factors including: 

  • Application and admission to UWL before the February 1 priority deadline
  • Cumulative GPA
  • Class rank or percentile
  • ACT/SAT scores

Funding is limited; students are encouraged to apply early for admission to be considered for available funds. Scholarship award notifications are mailed from Admissions to selected students beginning in late fall and continuing until funds are depleted.

Eagle Apprentice Program

Each year, the Eagle Apprentice Program offers 25 incoming students an engaging educational experience while supporting faculty in areas such as student-faculty research, instructional assistance, and computing support.

Selected students receive a $1,000 grant in both their first and second years of school ($2,000 total). No application is required; eligible students are selected by UWL Admissions.

Special Circumstances

While most scholarships are merit-based, some funds are available to recognize special circumstances, experiences, and achievements in addition to academic performance. 

Completion of the Special Circumstances Form is optional and does not guarantee an award. However, the information provided may help us to acknowledge a student's holistic life experience in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of our institution.
