UWL Builds Green
UWL is committed to renovating and constructing buildings that aid in the success of its students and staff, and are sustainable for years to come. In order to benchmark these practices, UWL pursues LEED certification on some of its new and renovated facilities. In LEED certification, an effort is made to pursue points which improve health and comfort for building occupants, lessen impact on the environment, and have a strong return on investment. This initiative along with others, will gradually transform UWL's campus to meet the needs of today, without compromising the needs of future generations.
Projects on the UWL campus that do not seek LEED certification are still highly sustainable. Even without LEED, we stick to our commitment of "Building Green."
LEED certification focuses on improving performance in areas that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, reduced carbon dioxide emissions, improved indoor environmental quality, stewardship of resources, and sensitivity to their impacts.

What is LEED Certification?
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is operated by the United States Green Building Council (USBGC) and provides third-party verification of green buildings. LEED is the international standard for environmentally-conscious building design, construction, and operation. To learn more about LEED certification visit the USGBC's LEED information page.
Recreational Eagle Center Solar Panels
In an to effort to cut down on CO2 emissions the Recreational Eagle Center implemented solar panels that were funded by the Green Fund. The system went online October 10th 2018. To learn more about these solar panels and the energy they are saving please visit the site here.
