Media Studies Emphasis

Media Studies explores communication through various media like television, film, social media, and other digital media technologies. Students who emphasize in Media Studies are able to analyze media industries, texts, audiences, and technology from different perspectives, and learn how to work within a media environment that intersects with history, politics, and economics. They will also gain skills in digital media production.

Students have opportunities to use our new Communication and Media Lab in their courses. The CaML offers students cutting-edge media production equipment, interactive and virtual reality media experiences, and opportunities to learn how to conduct many forms of digital media research which are in high demand on the job market. Media Studies graduates have been successful working in various media-related fields such as social media management, sports communication, and broadcast journalism. Some students have even pursued graduate degrees.
